Have the developers or anyone ever commented on the situation? I have other characters I also enjoy playing, but I find it sad that my favourite hasn't really been relevant since, I believe, 2002 (or technically 2002UM). I ask because I'd love to see him return in XV and was saddened he didn't make XIII or XIV, but I don't want to keep being hopeful if there's no chance of him ever returning.

Has anyone else in the series appeared, died for a few games, and been brought back or is the series done with him for good? His appearance in other games like Allstar shows he's obviously not been completely forgotten, and I know he has had representation through his kids like Adelheid, but will the guy himself ever be brought back. I know characters can be brought back in fighting games but Rugal himself has been absent for the last 5(?) games.
